There's always something going
on in and around Emerald Isle. From arts and craft
shows, seafood festivals, music festivals and
outdoor concerts, you can almost always find an
interesting diversion. There are several big events
that are worth scheduling your vacation to coincide
with.
In early May Beaufort hosts
the Beaufort Music Festival, a three day long
music festival featuring an ecclectic blend of
blues, jazz, soft rock, reggae, gospel and country.
There's something for everyone!
In June Swansboro is home to
the Swansboro Arts By The Sea & Storytelling
Festival, a weekend of arts and crafts blended
with a slice of storytelling on the streets in
the charming village of Swansboro.
Throughout the year is the American
Music Festival series in and around Beaufort.
This festival highlights a variety of chamber
music performances.
Fort Macon hosts a summer long
series of Friday night open air concerts in the
Park.
July brings around the Carteret
County Arts & Crafts Coalition's Summer Show
in downtown Beaufort. Area artists come together
for a juried show of arts & crafts in the
historic district of Beaufort. They also offer
a fall showing in September.
If you've ever had the desire
to learn how to surf, all summer long there's
the Hot Wax Surf Camp sponsored by the Hot Wax
Surf Shop right in Emerald Isle.
Late September bring a couple
of intersting events. The first one is the Crystal
Coast Super Boat Grand Prix along the waterfront
of Morehead City. The second one is the White
Oak Shores Bluegrass Festival in a beautiful campground
in nearby Stella, just a short drive from Emerald
Isle.

The first weekend in October
brings the big daddy of all the area events, the
NC Seafood Festival hosted in Morehead City. Seafood,
music, entertainment and the cultural heritage
and traditions that surround commercial fishing
begin Friday night on Morehead City's downtown
waterfront. Weekend events include a road race,
family fishing contests, surfing and more.
Swansboro hosts their annual
Mullet Festival on the 2nd weekend in October,
featuring music, area vendors and great seafood.
And when we say mullets, we mean the mullets that
you catch in the temperate waters around Emerald
Isle, not the hairstyle...!
